Looking back on 2022 and forward to 2023: As the year draws to a close we took some time to reflect on the year that was and look ahead at the year to come.
The biggest milestone for Vericatch in 2022 was being the first Canadian company to ever be nationally certified as an electronic logbook (ELOG) provider for fisheries. We started with Lobster, and our national Crab certification followed this fall. We are nearly certified for Salmon and look forward to supporting all Canadian fisheries by the time the DFO makes ELOGS mandatory in 2024.
It’s also been great connecting with the fishermen who are using our products and getting their input to make each iteration our software even stronger.
Being back to in person events this year and having a chance to reconnect with the community in person has been so valuable. We started off the year at Fish Canada Workboat Canada in January, ended it at the Emerging Technologies Information Sessions (ETIS) in Oregon. We’re looking forward to kicking off 2023 at the Eastern Canadian Fisheries Expo in Yarmouth and have a full agenda of at person events throughout the year
We also welcomed two new team members this fall. Robert Keenan joined us from Newfoundland and Labrador as our Senior Manager of Business Development, and Olha Yolkina joined us to manage our Q&A processes.
None of this would have happened without your support so we’d like to wish you and yours a happy, healthy holiday season.
To light up the December darkness we’re asking our community to share their photos of lobster trap trees on social media. Check the hashtag #lobstertraptree2022 on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to see some lovely trees! And we hope you’ll post your own as well – just add a photo you’ve taken using thehashtags #lobstertraptree2022 and #vericatch and you could win a Vericatch MiiR thermos mugs as thank you for helping bring some brightness to the shortest days of the year!
Here are a few of our favourite photos from the year that was:
